About

Art

In my art, my main love is to paint colorful, lively, and textured acrylic works. I paint a lot of musicians, but also athletes, pets, couples, flowers, bottles, and landscapes. My favorite medium is acrylic paint. While I do draw a lot, and even work in oil sometimes, there are two reasons I love acrylic paint the most: it dries fast, and it cleans up easily! I move very quickly, almost athletically, while I paint. The art I create has many layers and I love the texture it builds. I use loose brushstrokes to portray motion and energy and I love color. If you see a painting you like, please Contact Me! I am happy to work with you. Nothing beats an original painting on your walls, but I offer both original paintings and prints on my Art page.

In the local art community, I am a member of Stamford Art Association and have been a member of Carriage Barn Arts Center and the Loft Artists Association, where I was Associate Director for a time. I also have participated in the Art in Public Places through Stamford Downtown Special Services.

Music

As a musician, I play guitar and sing. I like to strum and sing hard! I played in a rock band (The Susans, Columbus, Ohio) for many years. Sitting in with a rock band sometimes is great, but I love to play in my hard-driving acoustic duo, taking popular songs, stripping them down to the bones, and giving them new life. On the Music page, find more about my duo, Me & D. We’ve been playing together for a long time and have a lot of songs and a lot of fun. You can find where we are playing next on the Events page.

Education

I suppose I would be considered self-taught as both an artist and a musician, but honestly, I am always studying and learning from friends, books, videos and community classes. Always striving to learn more, I have studied painting at Rowayton Arts Center, Silvermine Art Guild and Stamford Adult Program Studio Art. Oh, and I received my bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, College of Arts and Sciences. Not an art degree, an Economics degree. Therefore, I have a day job doing analysis in Excel. I know that is not very artsy, but it works for me!

Other Interests

I can be found regularly working in my studio space at home in Stamford while listening to great music. I also Blog about art, music, creativity, fitness and many other interests. Check it out! When I’m not painting or blogging, I am usually out playing music in venues throughout Connecticut, running outside, or riding my Harley Davidson Dyna Low Rider. Vroom Vroom!
